Steven Gerrard has warned his players that he will demand high standards from them after he began work as Rangers manager.
The former Liverpool and England midfielder took charge of his first training session as the club's new manager on Friday.
Gerrard said he had several messages for his players when he met them for the first time - the main one being that they would have to improve if they wanted to be part of his plans.
"There's been more than one message", explained Gerrard. "It's great to meet them. I was really excited coming in this morning. They need to get used to me and I need to get used to them and that's going to take time.
"I only know high standards so that's what I'm going to demand. This club only knows high standards. We'll demand that as a staff and we'll expect the players to come to the party."
Since being appointed as Rangers manager last month, Gerrard has already signed six players, including Ovie Ejaria from Liverpool.
However, the 38-year-old is not finished overhauling his squad, saying: "It's difficult to gauge where we are. There's still going to be people that are added. There'll be people that move on.
"We want leaders all over the pitch. We want leadership throughout the staff. A club this size needs leaders all over the place."
Gerrard also suggested that he wants Lee Wallace - who is currently appealing a fine and ban handed to him by the club for a dressing room incident - to be part of his plans at Ibrox.
"Lee's got a year left on his contract. He's a fantastic player", Gerrard said. "There's a situation that I've got nothing to do with.
"I'm not trying to back out of the situation but Lee's got an issue with the club. I'll leave them to resolve it.
"My focus is when can I get a fit Lee Wallace back in my squad. When we do, we've got a good player."
