More woe for Sunderland

On Saturday, Sunderland were relegated to the third tier for the first time in 30 years. The Black Cats became the 12th different club in English football history to suffer consecutive relegations from the top tier to the third tier, but only the third to suffer this indignity in the Premier League era after Swindon and Wolves.

Sunderland were bottom with 11 points from 17 games when Chris Coleman was appointed on November 19 and he has not been able to halt the slide.

The Black Cats have won just 18.5 per cent of Coleman's 27 league games in charge and, of the 10 Sunderland managers to work under owner Ellis Short, only his immediate predecessor Simon Grayson (16.6 per cent) has a lower win percentage. Their 45 goals conceded is also the joint most of any Football League side since November 19 along with Chesterfield, Burton and Reading.

Next season will only be Sunderland's second outside of English football's top two divisions and they will be hoping for a repeat of their first as Denis Smith's side won promotion at the first attempt, winning the old Division Three by nine points from runners-up Brighton.

Fulham's form continues

Fulham's 3-0 win at Millwall on Friday extended their unbeaten run to 22 games, already their longest ever unbeaten run in English league football. Indeed, no English club has had a longer unbeaten run this season (Manchester City also 22).

Consistent Millwall

On Friday night, Millwall named an unchanged line-up for the 16th time this season - more than any other side in the Championship. Indeed, they have made just four changes over the past 12 games. Despite the home defeat to Fulham ending their 17-game unbeaten run.

Millwall remain sixth and in the play-off places and will be looking to extend their unbeaten away run to 10 games when they travel to fifth-place Middlesbrough on Saturday evening, live on Sky Sports Football.

Goal crazy

Bristol City's 5-5 draw at home to Hull on Saturday was the highest-scoring draw in both club's history. It was the first time that Bristol City had conceded five at home since September 2012 against Blackburn, while Hull have scored five goals in each of their last two away games.

League One

Wigan were promoted back to the Championship at the first time of asking following their 4-0 win at Fleetwood. Since beating Manchester City to win the 2013 FA Cup, Wigan have suffered three relegations, won promotion twice, reached the Championship play-offs and played in Europe for the first and only time in the club's history.

League Two

Accrington will secure the League Two title on Tuesday night if they avoid defeat at Newport. Following their 4-0 win at third-placed Wycombe on Saturday, Stanley are now unbeaten in 15 games, the longest ongoing run in the division.

During the Wycombe win, Accrington manager John Coleman made three substitutions which is remarkably two more than the total he had made in the previous nine league games combined. Across English football's top-four tiers, the next fewest substitutions made over the past 10 league games is 14 made by Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson.
