West Brom boss Tony Pulis says his squad is not strong enough despite beating Bournemouth 1-0.

Tony Pulis says he wants more new players at West Brom, despite their opening-day win over Bournemouth.

One of West Brom's summer signings Ahmed Hegazi scored the only goal of the game as the Baggies began the new campaign by taking all three points.

But even though Pulis' side won the match, the Welshman wants plenty more additions to his squad and cited the fact the club currently have only 17 senior players.

"We need to get some players in and quickly," he told Sky Sports after the match.

"Sam Field did fantastic today and [17-year-old] Rakeem [Harper] but we need to get more players and good players. Everybody from around the football club is waiting for them to come in.

"They've got to be players that improve us. We will work tremendously hard the next two weeks to give us a better opportunity to do well. The squad's just not strong enough.

"We only have 17 senior pros so we need to and we've got a few at the top age so it just needs restructuring."

Pulis, who signed a new two-year contract with the club on Friday, was impressed by his team's display and debutants Jay Rodriguez and Hegazi.

He added: "Jay's been fantastic during pre-season. He's brought a lot of energy to the football club and it looks like he's going to score.

"We've taken Ahmed out of Egyptian football and he looks to be a really good buy for us. He's a good lad, speaks very good English, he's mixed in really well and he's done well alongside [Craig] Dawson today."
