Brazil international Cristiane is set to become the world's highest-paid female footballer with a move to China.

The 31-year-old will join Changchun Dazhong Zhuoyue from Paris Saint-Germain on June 30, according to the Chinese club's general manager Liu You.

The club claimed Cristiane's salary would be a new world record, although no figures were specified.

They are based in the capital of Jilin province and finished third in the Chinese Women's Super League last year.

Cristiane has scored 86 goals in 127 appearances for Brazil and was the top scorer in both the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympics.

China has been a heavy spender in the worldwide men's transfer market over the last 18 months, with Carlos Tevez joining Shanghai Shenhua in January on a reported weekly wage of £610,000 - a figure he later disputed.
