Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been voted into the UEFA Team of Year for 2016 but no Premier League players have been included.
The XI was voted for by UEFA.com users from a shortlist that included the likes of Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez and Riyad Mahrez, but none of the 11 English league players made the final cut.
Other notable omissions include Neymar, Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale, with eight of the 11 players coming from La Liga, two from Serie A and one from the Bundesliga.
So who did make the UEFA Team of the Year? Read on to find out...
It was another trophy-laden season for Juventus and their captain Buffon, picking up their fifth consecutive Serie A title and set two league records for the most number of consecutive clean sheets (10) and the longest period of time without conceding a goal (974 minutes).
For Italy, he appeared at his 11th major competition at Euro 2016 and continues to add appearances heading into the World Cup 2018 qualifiers as the most capped player for Italy.
Ramos collected the most amount of votes of any player to feature in the UEFA Team of the Year, appearing in 75 per cent of the teams selected by voters with 488,908 votes cast for his inclusion.
He continues to lead by example at Real Madrid, captaining the side to Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup glory, as well as notching up 140 caps for Spain - second behind Iker Casillas.
Pique continues to perform for Barcelona, and picked up La Liga and Copa del Rey titles for his troubles during the 2015/16 campaigns with 30 appearances during the league season.
He also featured in his sixth successive international tournament for Spain as well as starting in all four games and netted a late winner against the Czech Republic in the opening fixture.
The only player to feature from the Bundesliga, Boateng is used to be included in 'best team' line-ups having also made the UEFA Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament for his performances with Germany.
He netted his first international goal on his 63rd appearance against Slovakia in the round of 16 and domestically, helped Bayern to a 26th Bundesliga title - adding the German Cup on top for good measure.
Bonnuci missed just two games of the 2015/16 title-winning season for Juventus and, after plenty of interest from the likes of Man City and Chelsea, committed his future to the Serie A giants until 2021 in December.
Although personal issues and injuries have played a part this season, he continues to be the rock in the Juve back-line as they target yet another Serie A success.
Iniesta continues to show why he is one of the greatest-ever midfielders in the game, and captained Barcelona to a trophy double in the 2015/16 campaign with La Liga and Copa del Rey successes.
He overtakes friend and former team-mates Xavi with the number of titles won with the Catalan club - picking up honours on 29 occasions - and was selected in 51 per cent of the UEFA.com voters' team of the year.
Another German to also feature in the UEFA Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament, Kroos has had another solid 12 months for both club and country.
He helped Real Madrid to another Champions League trophy - his second personally after Bayern's victory in 2013 - as well as having the joint-second highest number of assists of the nominated players (14) along with Man City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne and behind West Ham's Dimitri Payet (19).
Modric continues to be one of the driving forces behind Real Madrid's success and was voted as the 2015/16 La Liga midfielder of the season for his effortless performances.
He has notched up an incredible 90 per cent pass completion rate, and his fine form continued with Croatia at Euro 2016 where he scored a spectacular goal in their opening fixture against Turkey.
Where do you start with Ronaldo? He had a stellar 2016, and was included in 69 per cent of the teams selected by the UEFA.com users with 450,220 votes cast in his favour - second only behind team-mate Ramos.
He picked up the UEFA Best Player in Europe award, scored 16 of the 28 goals by Real Madrid as they lifted the Champions League trophy - netting the decisive penalty against local rivals Atletico - and captained Portugal to Euro 2016 glory.
With too many more accolades to include, it has truly been the year of Ronaldo that has been topped off with his inclusion in the UEFA Team of the Year.
Although Messi was hit by injuries in 2016, he continued to set records and surpass milestones, including 300 La Liga goals and 500 goals for his club and country.
He took his Champions League hat-trick tally to seven - the record so far - and captained Argentina to a third major tournament final, but they once again ended up as runners-up.
It prompted Messi to retire from international duty before returning to the squad a few months later, but he certainly had better trophy success with Barcelona with another La Liga and Copa del Rey medal for his ever-growing collection.
While Griezmann shone for his club, it was his performances for France at Euro 2016 that truly defined his year, picking up the Golden Boot award for his six goals and the Player of the Tournament accolade.
He also netted seven times in the Champions League as he helped Atleti reach the final of the competition, although could not inspire his club to victory over their local rivals.
But he continues to be a potent front man for Diego Simeone's side - already netting ten goals in 22 appearances - as they look to push for another crack at Europe's top prize.
