Gary Rowett has been named as the early favourite to take over at Hull following the departure of Mike Phelan on Tuesday night.
Monday's 3-1 loss at West Brom left Hull deep in Premier League relegation trouble, with just 13 points from 20 games.
"The club can announce this evening that it has parted company with head coach Mike Phelan," Hull announced on their official Twitter page.
Rowett, recently dismissed from his role at Birmingham to the surprise of many, was installed by Sky Bet as a 1/2 favourite having also been high in the betting for the Swansea job before that went to Paul Clement.
Alan Pardew took his customary prominent position having been replaced at Crystal Palace by Sam Allardyce, with Sky Bet making him 4/1 second-favourite from Chris Coleman at 6/1 and Roy Hodgson at 8/1.
Other potential contenders include Ryan Giggs (10/1) and Harry Redknapp (12/1), with Gary Neville and Martin O'Neill next at 16s.
