Roy Hodgson has told Sky Sports News HQ he is not finished in football and remains in the market for a job with a club or a national side.
In his first television interview since quitting as England boss after Euro 2016, Hodgson said the foundations had been laid for an era of success under new man Gareth Southgate.
And the 69-year-old revealed he does not want the England job to be his last in a management career stretching back 40 years to his appointment at Swedish club Halmstad.
He said: "I'd like to come back - I feel as good as I have ever done. Age has never been a factor. I feel fit".
"I think you become a better coach - if wisdom is a word which is at all relevant in football, I would like to think it is, you do become a bit wiser with the years.
"You perhaps make a few less mistakes dealing with players than you would have made when you were young,
thought you knew it all and thought that you were invincible.
"I certainly don't feel that I couldn't handle the day-to-day work and the day-to-day pressures.
"I just have to wait and see what comes along. I've not been in any particular rush I must say. I've never had a long spell out of the game, it's always been a month or two and then back in again and sometimes not even that.
"So these four or five months won't do me any harm. But I'm hoping that something will come along that will really interest me and the people who are inviting me perhaps to join them are aware of what they've getting and they're getting what they want."

Hodgsons most recent club job was at West Brom, where he secured a top-half Premier League finish in his one full season before leaving to join England in 2012.
