Will this be Steven Gerrard's final match?

Steven Gerrard's probable final game for LA Galaxy ended in defeat as Ashley Cole missed a penalty in a shoot-out.

Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard made two saves in the penalty shoot-out as the hosts advanced to the MLS Western Conference final at the expense of the Galaxy.

Gerrard, going first in the shoot-out, found the back of the net, but Giovanni dos Santos fired high and Howard denied both Cole and Jeff Larentowicz.

The game looks likely to be Gerrard's last in LA, having signed an 18-month deal in January 2015.

There has been speculation that he could now call time on his playing career and return to Liverpool in a coaching role.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said last month: "Steven Gerrard - and this will be a really big surprise - is always so welcome at Liverpool FC.

"You cannot imagine how welcome so absolutely no problem, but everything we will talk to each other about will stay in these talks. That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am. Nobody should be worried that we don't have space for Steven Gerrard. Everything will be fine, 100%."
