Leigh Griffiths reminded Celtic fans of his ability against Inverness on Saturday but admitted patience is currently his strongest asset.
Griffiths started alongside Moussa Dembele in their 3-0 win at Celtic Park, scoring his first goal in nine games, although the 26-year-old has mainly been used as a substitute by Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers in recent months.
"It's a team game and I couldn't complain when I wasn't playing because Moussa has been on fire," Griffiths said. "If the shoe was on the other foot - and I was scoring goals like I did last season and got dropped - then I'd be asking questions."
Dembele has scored 16 goals in 24 appearances for Celtic, quickly becoming a firm favourite under Rodgers.
Griffiths understands the situation he finds himself in and sees Saturday's result as a platform to build on after the international break.
"I've come on for this game and scored a goal without being at my best," Griffiths added. "My last goal goal at home was against Kilmarnock so I'll take those goals all day long. That's given me good confidence so we'll see what happens when we come back."
Scotland take on England in a 2018 World Cup qualifier at Wembley on Friday - which Griffiths could play a part in after manager Gordon Strachan named him in the squad.
Griffiths has taken confidence from his inclusion with the national side and hopes Strachan gives him a chance.
"I'll be chomping at the bit to start the game but if not I'll sit on the bench and wait my turn," he said.
