Sunderland make worst ever start to a Premier League season

A 4-1 defeat by Arsenal at the Stadium of Light condemned Sunderland to the worst-ever start to a Premier League season.
The struggling Black Cats looks like they might snatch a point after Jermain Defoe cancelled out Alexis Sanchez's opener with a penalty midway through the second half, but Arsenal struck three goals in seven minutes to seal an emphatic victory.
David Moyes' men are rooted to the bottom of the table having taken just two points from their first 10 games, and their goal difference now stands at -13.
After Manchester City in 1995/96, Sunderland are only the second side in Premier League history to have just two points at this stage of the season, and Arsenal's fourth goal ensured they now have a worse goal difference than City's.
City were relegated that season, and Sunderland's latest defeat ramps up the pressure on under-fire manager David Moyes

The longest winless run at the start of a Premier League season belongs to Queens Park Rangers, who took 17 games to record a victory in 2012/13.
Moyes will be hoping his side get back to winning ways well before that point, but the odds are already stacked against them.
