Etienne Capoue expects Watford to improve as the season progresses and Walter Mazzarri's style has more of an impact.
Mazzarri was appointed manager of the Hornets in the summer, replacing Quique Sanchez Flores who had led the club to 13th in the table last season .
After failing to win any of their first three games this season, Watford have beaten West Ham and Manchester United and next travel to Burnley on Monday Night Football, live on Sky Sports 1 HD.
"We have changed manager, changed shape, he has brought his mentality and it works for the moment," Capoue told Sky Sports. "It will be better in a few games as well.
"It is hard to change during the season because there is not so much time to work, but we work every day and do more tactical work than last season."
Having not scored a single goal last season, Capoue has already netted four times in the league this term.
Reflecting on his new role further up the pitch, he said: "I am playing more offensive and with the new shape I have more chance to score or create chances.
"If I have the chance to score I will try my best. I hope to keep going until the end. I play very high, close to the strikers, if I make the right decisions we can score, that's an important position."
The midfielder joined Watford in 2015 after two years at Tottenham where he struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot.
"It wasn't an easy decision because Spurs were challenging for the top five and Watford were newly-promoted," he said. "But I talked with Giampaolo Pozzo (Watford's owner) and he was clear straight away about the project and it was easy to sign.
"It was a good spell for me at Tottenham, even if it was in the wrong way, but I am happy with my two years there and Watford gave me the chance to show what I can do in the league."
