Chris Gunter says Wales' success at Euro 2016 has given the squad the 'hunger' to perform during the World Cup qualifiers.

Gunter is part of Wales' squad to face Moldova on Monday, live on Sky Sports 1, as Chris Coleman's side begin their qualification campaign to reach the 2018 Russia World Cup.

Wales achieved their highest finish at a major tournament when they lost to eventual winners Portugal in the semi-finals of this summer's European Championship, but Gunter insisted concentration is now on adding more success.

"When you get a taste of something you want more of it," said Gunter. "There will be no hangover, we'll be even more determined.

"I think that hunger will always be there with this squad, everyone knows how close we are.

"We've been through a tournament and we know how it feels - the highs, the scenes back home - and we want to deliver that again."

Wales midfielder Dave Edwards reflects on the summer and the need to kick on to 2018.

Wales have not qualified for a World Cup since Jimmy Murphy's 1958 side reached the quarter-final before losing 1-0 to Brazil and a goal from a teenager called Pele.

But Gunter admits there will be a different feeling about the forthcoming campaign which sees Wales pitted against Austria, Serbia, Republic of Ireland, Moldova and Georgia.

"You can't get to a semi-final and think things are going to stay the same," said Gunter. "But this is what we wanted, to have this interest and excitement from the beginning.

"The fans were a credit to the nation as much as team, and on Monday we know a sold-out stadium will be right behind the team.

"The bond will be as strong as it was in France."
