Former England and Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell has given us his #One2Eleven of stars he has played with.

Vassell was a product of the Villa academy, and went on to score 35 goals in 162 games for his boyhood club.

Under Sven-Goran Eriksson, the striker represented England 22 times between 2002 and 2004, scoring six times - the highlight being a bicycle kick agains the Netherlands on his international debut.

The 36-year-old joined Manchester City from Villa in 2005, going on to enjoy spells at Turkish side Ankaragucu and Leicester City before retirement.

Vassell, who picks a 4-4-2 diamond formation, tells us who makes his XI...

Goalkeeper: Mark Bosnich

He went through a period where he was the best goalkeeper in the country. He was a good guy to me, looked after me as a youngster coming through.

Also See:

Right-back: Geremi

Not a lot of people know I've played with Geremi. He came to Ankaragucu, the club I played for [in the 2009/10 season]. He's strong, quick and takes free-kicks. A natural leader and a winner, which is what you get when you've been at the clubs he was at.

Left-back: Jeffrey Schlupp

He was coming through the ranks when I was at Leicester and you could obviously see his talents. He's a winner now. He's got medals and will go on to be a great player. I wanted to pick Jlloyd Samuel, but then my dad said Ashley Cole is better, so I settled for Schlupp as those two are friends.

Centre-back: Rio Ferdinand

Ferdinand can play any position on the pitch. He's got a footballer's brain and knows the game inside out. He's got that ability to read the game and it's hard to attack him down either side.

Centre-back: Ledley King

King is exactly the same as Rio. During his playing days he was solid. He doesn't even have to play centre-half, he can move into midfield. Like Rio, he can challenge on both sides.

Defensive Midfield: Vincent Kompany

When he came to Man City he started as a midfielder. It's the perfect role for him in my team, if any of my attacking players give it up then he's there as the rock.

Midfield: Daniel Sturridge

I know people will say he's not a midfielder but I want my team to have an attacking threat. As a 15-year-old [at Man City] everyone was thinking, 'who's this?'. We found out by the end of the session after eight goals. He's just got that little bit extra.

Midfield: Gareth Barry

My friend from Villa. We were in the youth team together. He knew what I was going to do. When he had the ball things used to happen, and he was a great player for me to have in the team.

Attacking midfield: Paul Merson

He doesn't want to defend, he wants to be free with the ball and make something happen. He puts other players on their toes. He knows the game. When he takes off his shirt he's not ripped, he's just a pure good footballer. Simple as that.

Striker: Andrew Cole

Probably the most prolific player I've played alongside [at Man City]. The way he could finish was ridiculous, you wondered how he would do it.

Juan Pablo Angel Aston Villa

Striker: Juan Pablo Angel

He scored a ton of goals at Villa. We got 30-odd between us one season, when I got my England debut. Things took off from there. His main trait was his ability in the air. He would be a good foil for Cole, who's more of a fox in the box.
