Hull City started their pre-season campaign with a disappointing goalless draw at Grimsby Town.

Steve Bruce's side were handed an early blow in fifth minute when full-back Moses Odubajo was replaced by Harry Maguire after suffering an awkward fall.

Robert Snodgrass went close to breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute, heading Sam Clucas' cross over the crossbar.

Hull continued to press forward with Mo Diame stinging the palms of Grimsby goalkeeper James McKeown with a long-range effort in the 25th minute.

The Senegalese midfielder also had a penalty appeal waved away just before the interval as the sides went into the break level

Bruce made two changes at half-time with Dusan Kuciak and Jarrod Bowen replacing Eldin Jakupovic and Tom Huddlestone.
