MLS champions LA Galaxy have signed midfielder Giovani dos Santos on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Villarreal.
The versatile attacker, who is currently on international duty with Mexico at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, is reportedly expected to cost Galaxy a seven-figure fee from the La Liga side where he spent the past two years plying his trade.
"It's going to be a challenge for him," Galaxy coach and general manager Bruce Arena told the LA Times. "He's not been at a club yet where he's had those kind of responsibilities.
"And he's in a community where he is going to be sought after. He's going to have to be mature about it."
The 26-year-old former Barcelona and Tottenham player will eventually team up with the club's four designated players - Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Omar Gonzalez - following the MLS' recently introduced "core player" rule.
