Jake Buxton has committed his future to Derby by signing a new three-year contract.

Buxton has signed a new deal which will keep him with the Championship club until the summer of 2017.

The 29-year-old central defender, who has made 132 appearances for County since joining from Burton Albion in 2009, is the latest player to extend his stay at the iPro Stadim.

Midfielder Jeff Hendrick and left-back Craig Forsyth agreed four-year contracts with Steve McClaren’s side last week.

“It’s great news that Jake has signed a new contract,” McClaren told the club’s website.

"He has improved his game and his performances last season were excellent.

“His leadership both on and off the field in the dressing room and around the place has been spot on.
