Latest under our scout's gaze is Vitoria's
Mahamadou N'Diaye
The scout reports...
We check on African stopper Mahamadou N'Diaye who is attracting a great deal of attention in Portugal.
N'Diaye was born in Senegal capital Dakar, but before he became a teenager he was recruited by local side Tontien Bamako.
N'Diaye progressed well, emerging as a classy defender able to play across the back, but before his senior debut he was spotted by Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
He moved to Morocco aged 19, and he was immediately pushed into the starting XI.
He played 15 games in his opening season, which proved his last in Africa - as he was soon picked up by Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal.
After linking up with Vitoria in late 2010, N'Diaye was soon a regular in their colours too - mainly in central defence, although also able at full-back.
Later in 2011 and N'Diaye was called up by Mali, and he has since become a regular in their squad despite his tender years, and he was part of their squad for the recent African Cup of Nations.
N'Diaye's progress has continued in Portugal and now some of Europe's big clubs are taking a keen interest. He has already stated his preference to move to France.
Lyon, PSG, Toulouse, Bastia, Brest and Nancy have all been linked with moves for the player, whilst Premier League Fulham are also said to be keeping tabs on his recent displays.
N'Diaye is a really classy performer, and is comfortable in possession, and in many ways would seemingly be suited to Ligue 1.
A good reader of the game, he is anything but a headstrong central defender who dives in and he is capable of bringing the ball out of defence.
The scout says...
A move to France surely beckons for N'Diaye, but his progress has been such that clubs from England and Italy are also paying attention.
N'Diaye looks ready to move on from Portugal and a summer move looks highly likely - if he finishes the season well, a move to the Premier League cannot be discounted.
