Captain signs contract extension at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard

St Etienne captain Loic Perrin has committed his future to the club by signing a new three-year contract. The midfielder will now remain with the Ligue 1 outfit until June 2014. Coach Christophe Galtier revealed last week that a deal was on the table and the relevant paperwork has now been completed. "I am very happy and proud. Committing to the ASSE has always been my first wish because I feel good here," Perrin told the club's official website. "There is something in St Etienne that does not exist in other clubs. "Negotiations have taken some time but today I am happy to continue the adventure." Galtier was equally thrilled to see Perrin put pen to paper, adding: "We often talked together about his future.

Adventure

"Loic had made a wise decision to wait. Today, he made a very good decision to extend the adventure with us. "I'm pleased for the club and for me as coach. "Loic is an example for all. It's real plus for the ASSE. "He has love for the jersey and respect for the institution. He truly embodies the ASSE." The former France U21 international has spent his entire senior career with St Etienne, having graduated from the academy ranks in 2003. The 24-year-old has skippered the side since 2007/08 and has made well over 100 appearances for the club. He has played a leading role in St Etienne's endeavours this season, with just three points currently separating them from league leaders Lille.
