France international pens new deal at Stade Velodrome

Mathieu Valbuena has penned a new deal at Marseille, ending any uncertainty surrounding his future. The 25-year-old playmaker is now under contract at Stade Velodrome until 2014. There had been fears that he could move on, with a number of clubs reported to be monitoring his situation. However, the France international claims he always intended to agree fresh terms and is delighted to be able to lay the issue to rest. "I have always stated that I love the club and its fans," Valbuena told Marseille's official website. "With this contract I have shown that my commitment is worth more than words. "At my age a player rarely signs on for so long at one club."

Extensions

Marseille have also welcomed news that Brazilian striker Brandao and defensive ace Lyti N'Diaye have agreed extensions to their current deals. Brandao is now tied to the club until 2013, despite appearing to be on his way out at one stage over the summer, while N'Diaye is also signed up for three more years.
