Quakers striker still hopeful of facing Grimsby

Darlington striker Lee Thorpe has suffered another injury blow after aggravating a groin strain. The 33-year-old has been sidelined since he scored the winner in the Quakers' 1-0 win over Lincoln in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on 1st September. Despite suffering the latest setback Thorpe still hopes to play a part in the weekend trip to Grimsby Town as Colin Todd's side look to improve on their dismal start to the season. "I had another setback this week, which is frustrating because everything was going really well. I seem to have aggravated my groin again, but hopefully I will be able to feature at the weekend," Thorpe said.

Frustrating

"I'm just taking it one day at a time and taking it slow because I don't want to overload my groin and end up doing something that will keep me out for a long time. "It has been frustrating for me, especially because I'm not very good at watching the game while sidelined. "I'm not one of those players that can enjoy watching the lads play because I want to be involved in every game possible, trying to help out. "There is nothing you can do about it when you are out injured, but I don't find it very enjoyable watching the lads play when all I want to do is be out there helping them."
