Jordi Alba has reached an agreement with Barcelona over a new five-year deal, with a buyout clause worth £428m.

The Spain international's current deal at the Nou Camp was due to expire next summer but the 29-year-old has committed his future with the La Liga champions until June 2024.

Alba, who returned to his boyhood club from Valencia in 2012, is an influential member of the Catalan side and won the La Liga and Copa del Rey double last season under Ernesto Valverde.

A club statement read: "The FC Barcelona and Jordi Alba have reached an agreement for the renewal of his contract for the next five seasons, until 30 June 2024. The buyout clause is set at € 500M.

"In the next few days, it will be announced when the official act of signing the new contract that will link the player with the club will take place."
