Steven Pienaar has joined David Moyes at Sunderland after signing a deal until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old played under Moyes during the Scot's time in charge of Everton, with Pienaar having two permanent and two loan spells at Goodison Park.
Pienaar, who also played for Tottenham Hotspur, made more than 200 appearances for Everton, but has linked up with Moyes once again at the Stadium of Light after a successful trial.
Moyes first brought the South African to English football in 2007, signing Pienaar from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
Former Manchester United boss Moyes has already signed one of his former recruits in Adnan Januzaj, who joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan, and Pienaar, who will wear the No 20 shirt, will provide further options in midfield.
Sunderland take on Middlesbrough in the Tees-Wear derby on Saturday, with Moyes looking to get his first points as manager of the club after a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
