Free agent Rhys Turner has completed a move to Morecambe after signing a two-year deal with the Sky Bet League Two club.

The 20-year-old striker, whose contract at Oldham expired at the end of last season, boosts Shrimps boss Jim Bentley's striking options for the 2016-17 campaign after impressing during pre-season training.

Turner began his career as a Preston youth player before signing for Stockport and he went on to make 25 appearances for Latics over a two-year spell which included loan stints at both York and Macclesfield.

Bentley was delighted with his new signing and told his club's official website: "He's young, bright and very eager to do well and progress.

"We have had good reports about him from people we know in the game and we have seen enough in him to suggest he's got a very bright future.

"He's quick, powerful and full of energy and we are sure he will score goals for us.
