Yanic Wildschut is back at Wigan after agreeing a permanent move from Middlesbrough.

The two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the Dutch winger on Wednesday and Wildschut, who enjoyed a productive loan spell at the DW Stadium, has now signed personal terms on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The 24-year-old, whose deal with Boro was due to expire in the summer, scored four times in 17 appearances when on loan with Latics.

"Everyone at the club has worked so hard to get the deal over the line and it shows our ambition that we are now able to unveil Yanic as a Wigan Athletic player," Gary Caldwell said on Wigan's official website.

"On his day, he has already shown us what he can do and how devastating he can be. He's not the finished article yet, he will be the first to admit that, but his potential is huge and we are delighted that it is here in Wigan that we can both work together for the long term."

Without Wildschut in their starting line-up on Thursday, promotion-chasing Latics came from behind to defeat Gillingham 3-2 and move five points behind Sky Bet League 1 leaders Burton.

"I have loved playing for Wigan, everyone at the club has been great to me, the fans sing my name, and I'm so happy that everything is now done," Wildschut added.
