Nantes' strong return to Ligue 1 suffered a setback on Saturday as they lost 2-1 at home to Toulouse. Second-half goals from Etienne Didot and Jean Daniel Akpa Akpro were enough for the visitors despite Papy Djilobodji pulling one back for Nantes. Toulouse move into the top half while defeat leaves Les Canaris in fourth place, with a likely three-point deduction to come which as of now would drop them to seventh. Nantes had the better of the early exchanges, with Vincent Bessat denied by keeper Ali Ahamada after latching on to Filip Djordjavic's pass. Alejandro Bedoya then headed against the post after getting ahead of defender Aymen Abdennour to reach Bessat's cross. Akpa Akpro carved out Toulouse's best chance of the first half when he crossed to Wissam Ben Yedder, whose first-time effort flashed wide. But le Tefece took the lead nine minutes into the second period when Serge Aurier crossed and Akpa Akpro nodded the ball down for Didot to finish. Bessat forced another sharp save from Ahamada but it was Toulouse who scored for a second time in the 71st minute as Martin Braithwaite cut into the box and crossed for Akpa Akpro to finish at the far post. Ahamada was finally beaten in the 82nd minute when defender Djilobodji let fly from 25 yards and his left-foot drive took a slight deflection off Abdennour and left the keeper wrong-footed. There was no way back for Nantes, though, as Toulouse extended their unbeaten run to four games.
