Sochaux slipped to the bottom of Ligue 1 as Filip Djordjevic's second-half goal condemned them to defeat at Nantes. Djordjevic was superbly denied by visiting goalkeeper Simon Pouplin in the first half but finally made the breakthrough in the 77th minute, heading in Banel Nicolita's superb free-kick from the right wing. The only serious threat from Sochaux was from free-kicks, with Sebastien Roudet in the first half and Thomas Guerbert in the second testing goalkeeper Rudy Riou. Djordjevic helped create the first chance, flicking on Alejandro Bedoya's cross for Serge Gakpe to fire in a shot which Pouplin held at the second attempt. Roudet's inswinging free-kick was punched away by Riou before Pouplin made an even better save at the other end, reacting sharply to keep out a Djordjevic header from Gakpe's cross. Nantes threatened again before the interval as Bedoya met Jordan Veretout's volleyed cross with a first-time effort before the ball had dropped, but saw it deflected wide. Gakpe was denied by Pouplin on the hour before Guerbert almost caught out Nantes from a set-piece wide on the left which Riou was forced to block. The opening goal finally came for Nantes with 13 minutes remaining as Romanian winger Nicolita swung the ball across and Djordjevic headed home emphatically from close range. Pouplin denied substitute Nicolita a second in the closing stages with a low save, but could not prevent Nantes emerging victorious.
