Morecambe 0-3 Grimsby
Saturday 7 December 2024 18:36, UK
Justin Obikwu scored a brace as Grimsby's recent run of good results continued with a comfortable 3-0 League Two victory over struggling Morecambe at the Mazuma Stadium.
Obikwu's first-half double and a last-minute Danny Rose effort handed the Mariners maximum points.
Morecambe stated brightly with Harvey Macadam forcing a save from Jordan Wright after just 27 seconds, but from there, the visitors always looked the more threatening.

Obikwu added his second after 39 minutes when another excellent through ball dissected the home defence and the striker kept his cool to chip a finish over the Morecambe goalkeeper.
The hosts made three changes at the break and threatened when Callum Jones tested Wright with a free-kick from the edge of the box, while Hallam Hope was inches away from connecting with Ben Tollitt's cross.
It was the visitors who finished the game on the front foot with Jordan Davies striking the crossbar before Rose added the gloss at the death, with a close-range finish to complete a fine day for David Artell's side.
