MK Dons 0-1 Port Vale: Visitors seal first away win
Sunday 9 October 2016 16:52, UK
Port Vale secured their first away win of the season with a 1-0 victory over MK Dons at Stadium:mk on Sunday.
A first-half goal from Alex Jones sealed all three points for the visitors as MK Dons' misery continues in their search for a first league victory at home.
The hosts came agonisingly close to grabbing a late point when Ben Reeves rattled the crossbar with the last kick of the game, but it wasn't to be for Karl Robinson's side.
It was MK Dons who looked to assert some early pressure on their opponents, pressing high in the opening half-hour and passing the ball well as they looked to maintain possession.
Jak Alnwick was called into action just six minutes into the game, reacting well to produce a smart save from Kieran Agard's goal-bound header.

Dean Lewington rattled the woodwork moments after the half-hour mark when Vale failed to clear their lines, allowing the defender to unleash a shot which smashed against Alnwick's right post.
However, just two minutes later, a moment of madness from Lewington saw Port Vale awarded a penalty after he raised his arm to stop the ball inside the area.

MK Dons had the first chance of the second-half when Joe Walsh met Matthew Upson's corner with a great header, but he sent the ball just wide in what was a lucky let-off for the visitors.
