Millwall 1-2 Nottingham Forest: Lars Veldwijk's winner puts Forest through
Wednesday 24 August 2016 08:48, UK
Nottingham Forest are through to the third round of the EFL Cup after Lars Veldwijk's emphatic late finish saw the visitors beat Millwall 2-1.
Jamie Paterson slotted home to put Forest ahead, before Shaun Williams scored from 50 yards to give Millwall hope.
But Veldwijk fired into the bottom corner with extra-time looming.
Forest broke the deadlock on 35 minutes when Paterson fired in on the rebound after Veldwijk's header was saved by Tom King.
The Lions ought to have equalised in first-half injury time, but Jimmy Abdou fired straight at Stephen Henderson before Matt Mills blocked Gregg Wylde's follow-up.

Veldwijk almost ended the contest on 67 minutes, running onto Mahlon Romeo's ill-judged backpass, but Byron Webster covered well.
A piece of individual brilliance from Williams, on 77 minutes, changed the balance of the tie. He spotted Henderson off his line and his effort from the halfway line dipped under the bar to put Millwall back on terms.
But Veldwijk snatched victory in the dying minutes, running onto a through ball from the impressive Oliver Burke, to send Forest through.
