USA survived a hostile atmosphere to emerge from their World Cup qualifying clash in Mexico with a 1-1 draw.
The home fans jeered the Americans whenever they were in possession but Bruce Arena's men silenced them in style in just the sixth minute with a superb goal from Michael Bradley.
The midfielder stole possession in the Mexico half, advanced, and after spotting Guillermo Ochoa off his line, produced a sublime chip from 30 yards that left the Mexico goalkeeper red faced.
But Mexico levelled midway through the first half with another impressive strike as Carlos Vela cut in from the right and sent a low shot into the corner.
The hosts were the dominant team after the break but both teams hit the woodwork as they tried to force a winner.
Hector Herrera thundered a free-kick off the crossbar for Mexico while Bradley almost added another stunner to his collection but his swerving volley just went too far and rattled the post.
Mexico remain six points clear at the top of the group, with USA level with Chile on eight points as the top three qualify automatically for Russia 2018.
