Team news

Jesse Lingard will be assessed ahead of Manchester United's return to Premier League action against Everton. The attacking midfielder missed the Europa League win against AZ Alkmaar and did not train on Thursday.

Paul Pogba is out but set to start full training next week along with Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah. Nemanja Matic returned from a 10-week absence against AZ, while Diogo Dalot and Marcos Rojo are building fitness.

Everton have been dealt a double injury blow with Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin sidelined by calf injuries. Duncan Ferguson said he expects Walcott to miss three weeks and Schneiderlin two, ruling the latter out of a meeting with his former club.

Lucas Digne is a doubt after feeling tightness while training on Friday, while Fabian Delph, Yerry Mina and Seamus Coleman remain short of full fitness. Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Andre Gomes are long-term absentees.

• Manchester United have fielded five different teenagers in the Premier League this season, more than any other side (Chong, Garner, Gomes, Greenwood, Williams). Indeed, only in 1994-95 and 2015-16 (both six) have they fielded more different teenage players during the course of a Premier League campaign.
• Everton's Gylfi Sigurdsson has scored four goals in his last five Premier League away games against Manchester United. Indeed, in Premier League history only Steven Gerrard (5) has scored more goals at Old Trafford as a visiting player than Sigurdsson (4).
• Man Utd's Marcus Rashford has already equalled his best-ever Premier League goal tally in a single season (10) in 16 games this season (10 in 33 apps in 2018-19). The Englishman has scored seven goals in eight league appearances at Old Trafford this season - no other Man Utd player has scored more than two at home.

This is a proper Sunday. It was great to see 'Big Dunc' with his wholehearted honesty when Everton scored their third.

Everton do not know what style they want as they have had such a variety of managers. Are Manchester United turning the corner? It certainly looked that way against Manchester City and they could be on course for the top four now. Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial looked brilliant, while Scott McTominay's aggression was good once again.

United do give the ball away cheaply and I am unconvinced about them for the top four. They will continue to grind it away and they will get another promising and positive result here.
