Ander Herrera is available for Manchester United's Carabao Cup third-round clash at home to Derby following his recovery from an ankle complaint.
Fellow midfielder Nemanja Matic could return for the Sky Live clash after missing the 1-1 draw with Wolves due to suspension. But forward Marcus Rashford is sidelined as he serves the last of a three-match ban while defender Marcos Rojo (knee) is the only injury absentee.
Teenage full-back Diogo Dalot, 19, is in line to start as Jose Mourinho ponders whether to shuffle his pack and give outings to several fringe players for the visit of the Rams.
Derby manager Frank Lampard, who enjoyed some of the finest years of his playing career under Mourinho when the pair were at Chelsea, has no fresh injury concerns. However, captain Curtis Davies is absent with a hamstring problem that has sidelined him since the opening game of the season.
Midfielder George Evans will also miss out as he recovers from the knee injury he sustained while making his Championship debut for Derby against Ipswich a month ago. Forward Tom Lawrence will complete his three-match suspension and long-term absentee Marcus Olsson is continuing his recovery from a knee injury.
Manchester United and Derby County have met in the League Cup in two previous seasons - the Red Devils progressed both times, doing so in the quarter-final in 1969-70 and the semi-final in 2008-09.
Derby have lost seven of their last eight away visits to Old Trafford against Man Utd (W1), with their only victory in this time coming in May 2001 when Malcolm Christie scored the winner in a 1-0 win.
Manchester United have won 14 of their last 15 third round League Cup matches, losing only in 2007-08 against Coventry City at Old Trafford.
Derby have been eliminated from six of their last seven League Cup ties against Premier League opposition, with their only win coming against Stoke City in the 2008-09 quarter-final.
In the Premier League era, three of the four teams to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in the League Cup have been from outside the top-flight - York City in September 1995, Coventry City in September 2007 and Crystal Palace in November 2011.
José Mourinho has never lost a home match in the League Cup (P11 W9 D2 L0), although he was eliminated in the third round in 2005-06 against Charlton Athletic when his Chelsea side lost 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw - current Derby boss Frank Lampard featured for Chelsea that day.
Jose Mourinho meets Frank Lampard in the dugout for the first time! It just does not seem to be a happy camp at Manchester United at the moment and there seem to be a lot of mixed messages coming out.
It's close to a must-win game for United. They need to take this seriously and play a strong team. It's pretty much a free hit for Derby and Lampard will want to have a bit of a go at Old Trafford. I cannot quite see an upset here though.
Don Goodman predicts: 2-1 (9/1 with Sky Bet)
