Livingston 1-1 Rangers: Myles Hippolyte strike foils leaders

Rangers remain top of the Scottish Championship table, but only on goal difference, after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Livingston.

Despite dominating possession, as well as shots on goal at the Almondvale Stadium, Rangers were unable to make it 13 wins from 14 games, thus allowing second-placed Hibernian to draw level on points thanks to their 1-0 victory at Alloa.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, with what was their first real effort on goal, as Jason Holt located the bottom left-hand corner from 10 yards.

The league leaders almost added a second through Barrie McKay who curled an effort against a post.

Martyn Waghorn also threatened to extend their advantage, before the hosts came close to an equaliser on the stroke of half-time when Jordan White headed straight at 'keeper Wes Foderingham from close range.

And Livingston were level six minutes after the break thanks to a clinical strike by Myles Hippolyte who fired home from outside the box, following good work by Ben Gordon.

As Rangers chased a winner, home 'keeper Marc MacCallum dived to deny Andy Halliday from long range and he then pushed away a fierce strike by substitute Kenny Miller who had joined the action just before the hour mark.

But it was not to be for the Gers who drew a league match for the first time this season against a team with just one home win this campaign.
