Tigers go down to Dons in friendly tie

Lee Miller's late first-half strike was enough for Aberdeen to claim a 1-0 win over Hull City in Dean Windass' benefit match at the KC Stadium. Hull handed a debut to new signing Seyi Olofinjana and brought trialist Henri Camara off the bench, but could not find a way past Aberdeen goalkeeper Stuart Nelson. Windass, 40, lined up for both teams, starting the first half in a Hull shirt before being replaced by Daniel Cousin after five minutes, and then appearing for Aberdeen after the break. Both sides formed a guard of honour for the veteran forward, who received rapturous applause from both sets of fans. But it was the Dons who took the lead on 38 minutes - Sone Aluko picked out Miller with a left-wing cross and the striker headed home thanks to a small deflection from Anthony Gardner. After the break, the Tigers introduced Tony Warner, Nick Barmby and Camara for Matt Duke, Geovanni and Olofinjana, but they could not come up with an equaliser. Despite the changes, the closest Phil Brown's team came to a second-half goal was when a deflected Camara shot fizzed wide.
