Granada boosted their chances of La Liga survival as they thrashed Andalusian rivals Real Betis 4-1 on Friday evening in a contest that finished with both sides down to 10 men.
The hosts raced into a 3-0 lead with just over half an hour played thanks to Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez's deft finish in the 18th minute, Adrian Ramos' header in the 28th and Andreas Pereira's 33rd-minute strike.
Ramos flicked in his second 19 minutes into the second half, two minutes before a skirmish between Pereira and Nahuel - in which they pushed each other before the latter appeared to slap the former in the face - leading to both being red-carded.
Petros subsequently headed in a consolation for the visitors with 15 minutes remaining, but Granada had already sealed the three points in a much-needed win.
With the victory over 13th-placed Betis, second-bottom Granada have cut the gap between themselves and safety to two points ahead of the weekend's action.
Sporting Gijon - who are now level on points with Granada - welcome Atletico Madrid live on Sky Sports 1 on Saturday, while bottom-club Osasuna travel to Celta Vigo live on Sky Sports 3 on Sunday.
