Portsmouth star grabs winner

A brilliant goal in the final minute from Sulley Muntari gave hosts Ghana a 2-1 win over Guinea in the opening match of the 2008 African Cup of Nations. Ghana started brightly but it was goalless at half-time as Guinea defended admirably with Celtic's Bobo Balde marshalling the back-line. The opening goal came ten minutes into the second half as Ghana were awarded a questionable penalty as Nottingham Forest's Junior Agogo was upended by Oumar Kalabane. Asamoah Gyan stepped up to fire past Kemoko Camara, but Guinea were not overawed and managed to level just ten minutes later. And it was Kalabane who made amends for giving away the penalty as he rose to head home Pascal Feindouno's corner despite the frantic efforts of goalkeeper Richard Kingson. The home crowd at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra were silenced - but they erupted in the final minute when Portsmouth ace Muntari unleashed his thunderbolt from 25-yards to make sure Ghana began their campaign in perfect fashion.
