Fenerbahce take a slender lead to Spain for the second-leg of his UEFA Champions League last-16 clash following a five-goal thriller in Turkey. Sevilla started brightly with efforts from Fredi Kanoute and Seydou Keita testing keeper Volkan Demirel inside ten minutes. Fenerbahce striker Mateja Kezman then shot tamely at keeper Andres Palop on 11 minutes when a side-pass to the unmarked Diego Lugano would have been the better option. But he made amends six minutes later, scoring with a free header from an Ugur Boral cross from the right. The Serbian got between two defenders and was in acres of space when he nodded home. But the home side's lead only lasted six mintes before Sevilla equalised in the 23rd minute after good pressure. The goal came after Daniel Alves rifled in a wicked cross from the right and the unlucky Edu put into his own net while at full-stretch, with the ball bouncing over keeper Volkan, who had no chance. Fenerbahce should then have won a penalty in the 33rd minute from an Alex corner which hit Julien Escude on the right arm but the referee waved on. In the second period, Sevilla again began brightly before Lugano put the home side back in front on 57 minutes with another free-header. He rose unmarked in the box to head home Alex's corner with the Sevilla defence again nowhere to be seen. But the visitors refused to give up and again leveled on 66 minutes when Escude side-footed in a shot from a corner, after the ball had been helped on by a Christian Poulsen header at the near-post. Substitute Semih Senturk then won the game for the home side in the 87th minute after Alex found him on the right of the Sevilla box. His shot took a slight deflection from defender Ivica Dragutinovic into the net to the delight of the home fans. Sevilla's two crucial away goals mean the tie remains finely balanced when it resumes on 4th March.
