Exeter 1-1 Crewe: Spoils shared at St James Park
Tuesday 3 March 2020 22:01, UK
Exeter and Crewe played out a 1-1 draw at St James Park which did little for either side in their hopes of a top three finish in Sky Bet League Two.
Paul Green had the ball in the net for Crewe in the 11th minute, but it was ruled out for offside and the hosts opened the scoring with their first genuine chance on 32 minutes.
Nicky Law's corner was headed down by Nigel Atangana and defender Tom Parkes was able to turn the ball past stranded goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen.
Randell Williams almost made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time, only for his volley to go straight into the grateful arms of Jaaskelainen.
However, the Railwaymen equalised after a good start to the second half when Exeter failed to clear a cross and as it was returned into the penalty box, Michael Nottingham skilfully guided the ball into the bottom corner.
