Dynamo Kiev substitute Vitaliy Buyalskyi struck a late equaliser to rescue a point for his side as their opening Champions League Group G clash against Porto ended 2-2 at the Olympic Stadium.

Midfielder Buyalskyi, a second-half replacement for Oleh Gusev, ran onto a mis-hit shot in the 89th minute to fire home and deny the Portuguese victory after Vincent Aboubakar's double had cancelled out Gusev's opener for the Ukrainian side.

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas almost gifted Kiev an eighth-minute lead when he dropped a high ball into the box, but his defence came to the rescue before home forward Junior Moraes could pounce.

Porto defender Maxi Pereira then blocked a shot as Kiev made a flying start, but the visitors served warning of their own menace in the 15th minute when Yacine Brahimi crashed a free-kick into the side-netting.

Kiev edged in front five minutes later following a swift counter-attack. Denys Garmash played an early low ball across the penalty area and Gusev neatly converted at the far post.

The home side's lead was short-lived though. Midfielder Miguel Layun beat his man out wide on the left and his superb cross was headed powerfully home by Aboubakar three minutes later.

Clear-cut chances became harder to come by in the second half but Porto looked to snatch a late winner through substitute Jesus Corona and although Oleksandr Rybka snuffed out the danger, the Kiev goalkeeper was soon in trouble.

Ruben Neves delivered a corner and when Rybka failed to get a decent touch to the ball Aboubakar steered home his second of the night to put the Portuguese in front.

Midfielder Garmash then spurned another gilt-edged chance for the hosts when blasting wide, but when a skewed shot fell invitingly into the box in the 89th minute, Buyalskyi ran on to crash the ball beyond Casillas to ensure the tie ended even.
