Promoted Deportivo La Coruna continued their promising start with a home draw against in-form Getafe.
Promoted Deportivo La Coruna continued their promising start to life back in the top flight with a 1-1 home draw against a Getafe side who last weekend beat reigning champions Real Madrid. Riki gave Depor a flying start when he netted after just six minutes against his former club but Getafe hit back to claim a share of the points when Abdelaziz Barrada, the match-winner against Madrid, equalised in the 26th minute. The result leaves Depor still unbeaten with five points from three matches, while Getafe have one point less. It was the away side who threatened first when Xavi Torres got on the end of Adrian Colunga's deep cross but he could not convert from close range as his effort was blocked. Within two minutes of that let-off Depor were ahead thanks to a thumping shot from Riki. The striker, who spent two years at Getafe before moving to the Riazor in 2006, let fly from outside the box and his effort was too good for visiting goalkeeper Miguel Moya. Depor's lead lasted only 20 minutes though, and they had goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia to thank for it being that long. He produced a fine stop to keep out a Colunga effort in the 18th minute and then 60 seconds later he reacted well to deny the same player. Aranzubia could not do much about the goal that beat him though, with Barrada, who netted a 75th-minute winner against Real, finishing off a rapid attack that left him one-on-one with the Depor custodian. That proved to be the end of the scoring, although both sides pushed forward in search of a winner. Moya tipped efforts from Bruno Gama and Riki behind for corners before the break, while Javier Camunas and Riki were both denied by vital saves after the interval. For Getafe, Alexis, Torres, Barrada, Pedro Leon and Jaime Gavilan all tried their luck without success.
