Crewe and Doncaster share points
Sunday 30 November 2014 07:30, UK
Uche Ikpeazu marked his return to Gresty Road with a goal but Crewe had to settled for a point from a 1-1 draw with Doncaster.
Giant Watford teenager Ikpeazu, previously on loan at Alex, was a threat all afternoon and scored after half an hour. However, it was not enough for victory as James Coppinger hit back for Rovers in the dying minutes. After fellow loanee Nicky Ajose played the ball into the box, Ikpeazu turned and sent a shot past goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. Nathan Tyson missed a sitter for Doncaster after home keeper Ben Garratt had kept out an effort from Coppinger. Tyson was left unmarked from the resulting corner, but volleyed well wide from a great position. And it could have got worse for Paul Dickov's side before the interval after Paul Keegan misjudged a high ball, but Ajose made a mess of his shot with the goal gaping. Crewe appeared to be holding firm at the back against a lacklustre Rovers attack. But from substitute Harry Forrester's corner, Luke McCullough sneaked in and when Garratt pushed out the defender's effort, Coppinger reacted the quickest to ram home the equaliser from close range with 10 minutes remaining.
