Crawley 0-0 Port Vale: Scott Brown earns Valiants stalemate
Saturday 14 December 2019 19:00, UK
Goalkeeper Scott Brown made a series of fine second-half saves to deny Crawley a first win under new head coach John Yems as Port Vale held them to a goalless draw at the Broadfield Stadium.
Crawley, without a win in eight league games, found Brown in fine form with Yems starting his tenure with two successive goalless draws.
Vale boss John Askey had called on his side to "dig in" if they are to go into the new year in contention for a place in the play-offs and a bright start saw David Amoo go close.
Winger Amoo forced goalkeeper Glenn Morris to a low save before Crawley midfielder Nathan Ferguson rattled the crossbar at the other end.
Veteran defender Leon Legge came to Vale's rescue with a vital tackle to deny Ollie Palmer after the Crawley striker rounded Brown.

The visitors had a let off when no one was on hand to convert a dangerous cross by Ashley Nathaniel-George, after Cristian Montano had tested Reds stopper Morris with a low effort.
Nathaniel-George threatened to break the deadlock shortly after the interval with a strong run into the box, but Brown bravely smothered the ball.
Brown did well again to save a low shot from skipper Dannie Bulman after a through ball from Bez Lubala.
