Nantes extended their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 to eight games with a 2-1 win at Caen on Saturday night.

Mathieu Duhamel opened the scoring for the home side after 23 minutes but Oscar Vizcarrondo brought the scores level just before the break.

And the comeback was complete on the hour as Jordan Veretout netted to ensure Nantes maintained their push on the European places.

Caen had the first chance when Bengali Koita got his head onto a Herve Bazile corner but goalkeeper Remy Riou did well to turn the ball over the bar.

Midway through the first half, Caen had the lead and there was nothing Riou could do about it this time. Bazile won a chase for the ball and fed Duhamel, who beat Papiss Mison Djilobodji and curled home.

The equaliser came in the 40th minute courtesy of some poor defending as Vizcarrondo was left all alone to head home Veretout's corner at the far post.

Duhamel nearly scored an own-goal in the 59th minute as he deflected Veretout's free-kick goalwards but Remy Vercoutre cleared.

Nantes did niot have to wait much longer to take the lead, though, as just a minute later Veretout combined with Yacine Bammou and the former slotted home.

Riou kept his side ahead with an impressive save from Jean Calve's free-kick but it was Nantes who had the final chance.

Alejandro Bedoya freed Etey Shechter but Vercoutre made a smart save to ensure his team went back to the Pays de la Loire with three points.
