Bury 1-1 Port Vale: Shakers end season with a draw
Saturday 4 May 2019 18:26, UK
Already-promoted Bury ended a superb League Two campaign with a 1-1 draw at home against Port Vale.
The cash-strapped Shakers secured the runners-up spot as Jordan Rossiter cancelled out Tom Pope's opener, with players and fans celebrating wildly on the pitch straight after the final whistle.
Former Bury striker Pope went close early on when his header from Luke Hannant's cross hit the base of the post.
Pope made no mistake in the 24th minute, however, chesting down Antony Kay's cross before tucking a neat shot past Joe Murphy.
Bury responded by hitting the woodwork themselves as Lavery slid in to meet Jay O'Shea's cross, only to thump the crossbar from close range.

Just before the interval, Rangers loanee Jordan Rossiter evened it up, curling home from 20 yards to register his first Bury goal.
In the 54th minute Bury's leading scorer Nicky Maynard struck the crossbar as he almost converted Byron Moore's cross.
Vale's Tom Conlon went close to a winner when his shot was brilliantly tipped onto the post by Bury 'keeper Joe Murphy.
But the Shakers held on to the point which secured second spot in League Two.
