Burton moved back top of Sky Bet League 1 with a 1-0 victory against Blackpool, despite playing for more than half the game with 10 men.
Nigel Clough's side shrugged off the 43rd minute dismissal of midfielder Robbie Weir to secure a deserved win thanks to Mark Duffy's second-half strike.
Burton keeper Jon McLaughlin produced a superb fingertip save to deny Bright Osayi-Samuel a goal in a lively start by the visitors, but they struggled to make an impression again until a flurry of late pressure.
Burton's top scorer Nasser El Khayati had a free kick deflected narrowly wide and Stuart Beavon's low drive was pushed round a post by Colin Doyle as the home team dominated - only to be reduced to 10 men when Weir picked up two yellow cards in as many minutes.
The Seasiders were strangely content to sit back after the break, with Doyle fully tested by shots from Lucas Akins and Duffy.
Burton's persistent pressure paid off in the 63rd minute when Duffy curled a 15-yard shot past Doyle.
