Rovers took the lead on the half-hour mark when a superb Luke Thomas through-ball cut open United's defence and Omochere slotted home via a deflection which looped the ball into Vicente Reyes' net.
And three minutes after half-time Omochere netted his second goal. Taylor Moore volleyed across the pitch and Bryant Bilongo headed into the striker, who turned his marker to drive low into the goal.
U's forward Lavery headed against the bar following a corner in stoppage time before James Brophy also clipped the woodwork, but Cambridge could not get back into the game.
