Cesar saves late penalty as Leonardo's side hold Brescia 1-1

Inter Milan were indebted to Julio Cesar for a late penalty save as they played out a 1-1 draw at Brescia on Friday evening in a match which saw both teams finish with ten men. Leonardo's side went into the clash having won four in a row and looking to make it five to boost confidence ahead of next Tuesday's trip to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. They got off to a flying start as Samuel Eto'o broke the deadlock after just 18 minutes, but relegation-threatened Brescia battled hard to stay in the game. Brescia had to wait until the 85th minute to equalise through Andrea Caracciolo, but were then given an excellent chance to take all three points after Ivan Cordoba conceded a penalty and was sent off. Caracciolo stepped up to take the spot-kick but failed to beat Cesar, and the striker's frustration then got the better of him as he was dismissed for a second bookable offence. Despite the late relief, Inter will feel they missed the chance to apply pressure on Serie A leaders AC Milan as they remain four points adrift in second. Brescia's fourth consecutive draw, meanwhile, keeps them two points from safety.
