Gouffran strikes late
Sunday 4 November 2012 23:15, UK
Bordeaux beat Toulouse 1-0 and denied them the chance to claim a share of the Ligue 1 leadership.
Yoan Gouffran grabbed a late winner as Bordeaux denied Toulouse the chance to claim a share of the Ligue 1 leadership. Gouffran settled a low-key La Garonne derby with a smart finish three minutes from time against a Toulouse side which offered little going forward. The visitors would have moved level on 22 points with Paris St Germain and Marseille with a win but that never seemed likely as they turned in a limp display which would have infuriated coach Alain Casanova. Les Girondins bossed the opening half but could not find a way past goalkeeper Ali Ahamada. Ahamada saved well in the seventh minute to deny Gregory Sertic and followed up that effort with stops to keep out Jaroslav Plasil and Nicolas Maurice-Belay. He then produced a wonderful double stop to punch out Sertic's powerful drive and the follow-up from Plasil. Toulouse's only chance of the opening period came via a Franck Tabanou volley which flashed over the top. Ahamada continued his heroics after the break by parrying Maurice-Belay's 20-yard volley and Gouffran's turn and shot. And when Gouffran's powerful 73rd-minute drive drifted just over it looked as though Toulouse would hold on for a point. But Plasil had other ideas and his lovely through ball was inch-perfect for Gouffran to run on to and the striker calmly slotted the ball through the legs of the onrushing Ahamada to settle it. Bordeaux move up to seventh with the win while Toulouse remain fourth.Click here for completely free £10 bet with Sky Bet & £5 free every week
