Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship match between Birmingham and Sheff Wednesday

A late Lukas Jutkiewicz header earned Birmingham all three points over Sheffield Wednesday in a hard-fought encounter in the Saturday evening Championship game at St Andrew's.

A tight and tense affair exploded into life in the final 15 minutes when substitute Gary Hooper found the back of the net for the visitors after terrific work by Steven Fletcher to provide the assist with a back-heel.

But Keiren Westwood's rash foul on Clayton Donaldson gave Birmingham a chance to pull level moments later from the spot, with Donaldson slotting his spot-kick straight down the middle.

And Jutkiewicz snatched the points late on when he was left completely unmarked to loop a header over Westwood in the 92nd minute.

Wednesday had started the game in fine fettle, with Fernando Forestieri looking dangerous and Fletcher pulling the strings. The former went closest to opening the scoring in the first half, only to be denied from close range by Adam Legzdins, but that was as near as the visitors came to making their early dominance count.

The hosts felt they could have had a penalty midway through the first period when Jacques Maghoma was felled after the ball had gone, but Birmingham flattered to deceive in a half when they looked second best for much of the 45.

An evenly-matched encounter seemed to be drifting towards a stalemate in a similarly hard-fought second half… until Fletcher's moment of genius set up Hooper for his third goal at St Andrews in his last two visits.

The lead was deserved for Wednesday, but they didn't hold onto it for long, with Westwood charging off his line and rashly bringing down Donaldson when the striker was heading away from goal.

It was a calamitous error by the stopper, but worse was still to come for Wednesday, when Jutkiewicz was allowed to drift into space in the final throes of the game to head home a winner that Birmingham barely deserved.
