AFC Wimbledon 1-1 Bristol Rovers: Ollie Clarke, Joe Pigott with stunning goals
Friday 19 April 2019 19:46, UK
Ollie Clarke and Joe Piggott exchanged sublime strikes as Bristol Rovers rescued a 1-1 draw from relegation rivals AFC Wimbledon at Kingsmeadow.
Piggott put the hosts ahead in the 22nd minute but Rovers, who started the day five points above fourth-bottom Wimbledon, levelled through Clarke 12 minutes from time.
The hosts created the better early chances and took the lead when Piggott picked up a beautiful disguised pass from Anthony Hartigan and swept the ball into the far corner of the net.
And Rovers would have been two behind if it had not been for a finger-tip save by Jack Bonham to keep out Steven Seddon's header and Tony Craig's goal line clearance as Anthony Wordsworth hammered his follow-up on target.
Rovers should have got their equaliser on the hour mark after the dancing feet of Clarke put Gavin Reilly through on goal but Aaron Ramsdale was equal to the Scotsman's shot.

But with 10 minutes to go Rovers got their goal as Clarke showed brilliant skill to shift the ball onto his left foot and bend his 20-yard strike beyond Ramsdale.
The last chance of a winner fell to Dons forward James Hanson but he could not direct Seddon's cross home.
